Who Won What at the 360 Legal Group Awards Dinner?
The inaugural 360 Legal Group Awards dinner was held on 7th October at the City Grange Hotel- within spitting distance of Tower Bridge.
Those Solicitors and Law Firms who towered (obvious pun intended) over the opposition like Peter Crouch in a training exercise with Aaron Lennon were (although modesty forbids my award until the end) as follows:
1. Most Innovative Marketing Idea:
The winners were Birmingham based Blakemores with their new brand “Lawyers2You”. The award was accepted by Guy Barnett, the Managing Partner (and if i may say a thoroughly entertaining bloke to sit next to at dinner).
Blakemore’s have thrown away the legal marketing rulebook, and if I may mix just one more metaphor have thought outside of the box to achieve a unique and refreshing persona for a law firm.
Great use of cartoons on their website and in their sales literature: and above all else Blakemores have taken (literally) the law to the people by setting up in Shopping Centres through the Midlands.
2. Outstanding Achievement Award:
The winners were Welsh firm Watkins and Gunn from Pontypool and Newport.
As their website says they “exceed expectation” and their award was for recognition of increased fee income with measurable client satisfaction at an all time high.
As an aside the photo on their website is the most glamorous front row ever to emanate from Pontypool(in my opinion).
Stephen has overseen the considerable task of transforming a highly dependent publically funded firm into a thriving private client firm.
Stephen has been managing partner since 2000
4. Law Firm of the Year:
The most prestigious award of the evening went to the Brethertons, which is based in Banbury, Rugby and London
Brethertons according to the legal “bible” Chambers UK 2011 has enhanced its credentials as a leading law firm. It has five solicitors recognised as leaders in their field by Chambers UK, the legal research directory.
Brethertons is also one of only 26 firms instructed by the government to represent parents in international child abduction cases.
Senior Partner Shaun Jardine, who is quite used to receiving awards on behalf of the firm, as you will see from their website, accepted the award. If you scour their site you may even see David Cameron speaking from at a Brethertons sponsored event
5. Most Effective Social Networker:
And last but I would say not least, its me Paul Hajek of Chipping Sodbury based Clutton Cox.
It is in recognition of the way solicitors can now use the ever-growing social networks to grow their law firms.
It is a winning strategy especially for sole practitioners and small firms who can compete on a level playing field with the big boys and the new entrants who will come into the legal service market place next year.
I was runner up earlier in the year in www.primelocation,com awards.
I was recently appointed the Conveyancing Expert blogger for www.yell.com
My blogs have catapulted me in to being in the jargon the “go to Conveyancer” and the Clutton Cox website has a achieved a Google PageRank of 4
40% of our work now comes directly from the internet

And finally, a big thank you to Viv Williams the CEO of 360 Legal Group and his team of Louise and Rachel and many others behind the scenes in making the Conference and Awards Dinner such a success
